2015 Beauty Favourites (Part 2)

Here is Part 2 of my beauty favourites of 2015. You can see Part 1 here.

Let’s jump straight in…

Favourite Highlighter

thebalm Mary Lou Manizer

If you love using highlight on your face and you don’t own Mary Lou Manizer, you need this. It’s a beautiful, pale gold highlight and it’s ridiculously pigmented so you really don’t need to use much product. It became very popular on YouTube and it was the first highlight I ever bought. Some people don’t like this product because it is so intensely pigmented. Just use it with a fan brush and a light touch, you will be happy with the results. Check out “Christmas Sparkle” for more details.

Favourite Contouring Product

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit - Light

Contouring is a trend which, thanks to Kim Kardashian West and her makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic, has taken over the beauty world. Anastasia Beverly Hills jumped on this trend very early on and came out with their Contour Kit which has become a cult item. Their high quality powders can be used for highlighting and contouring. They sell kits with various shades for all skin colours and you can even build your own kit and choose the colours yourself. I use the light palette and the best shade for contouring is Fawn as it has a cool, grey undertone to it. Nothing worse than an orange contour.

Favourite Brow Product

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

Yet again, Anastasia Beverly Hills are featured in this article and with good reason. Anastasia Soare, the founder of ABH, is a brow queen. She has created some truly wonderful brow products and there’s a reason they are in such high demand. The Brow Wiz is a retractable pencil without the need for a sharpener. Excellent! The nib is much smaller than most brow pencils which is great for creating those natural looking hairs. It comes with a spooly brush for combing those out of control brows.

Favourite Mascara & Eyeliner

L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara

L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara and Collection Fast Stroke Liner have featured in my “Drugstore Favourites: Makeup” article. Telescopic is an awesome mascara for that natural look. The rubber brush is something I’m not usually a fan of but with this product, it really works. Slowly comb the product through the lashes from root to tip and the lashes will separate beautifully. I would advise curling your lashes first for perfect-looking lashes.

Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner

Collection Fast Stroke has a small pointed sponge applicator which is great for those shaky hands. The sponge tip doesn’t bend and flick around on the lid like a longer brush would. This helps with a smooth application. This is a great product for beginners learning to perfect that winged liner.

Favourite Blush

MAC Melba Blush

MAC Melba is that perfect blush colour. Its not too orange and not too pink. It’s described as “soft coral peach” and it’s beautiful. If you want to invest in a MAC blush and don’t know where to start, this is a good choice. It blends onto the skin very smoothly and stays put all day. MAC have a huge selection of blushes to choose from and it can be quite overwhelming if you don’t know what you want. This shade will suit plenty of skin tones as it’s quite a middle of the road, neutral colour.

Favourite Skincare

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum

If you’re looking for a serum to use in the day, before applying your makeup, Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster is the way to go. It isn’t greasy like a night time serum, it sinks straight into the skin. The serum is packed full of vitamin C and they’ve given it a glorious scent. It’s a delicious, sweet orange smell which won’t be everyone’s favourite but it’s definitely going to wake you up in the morning. I recommend adding this serum to your morning skincare routine, it works great under the eyes.

Favourite Haircare

Bumble and Bumble Don't Blow It

I’ve written about Bumble & Bumble Don’t Blow It before in “Lazy Girl’s Hair Product“. I’m in the process of growing my hair after having it cut short and I’m in the in-between phase at the moment where it’s not quite at the length I want. Short hair is time consuming to style all the time! When I had longer hair, I could leave it to air dry and I could attempt to pass off my naturally wavy hair as “messy beach waves”. This is where Don’t Blow It comes in. For those days when you just don’t want to spend ages doing your hair, you can add this product when your hair is damp and leave to dry. The end result is soft hair without that crunch you get from other hair products. This is a great product for people on the go.

I hope you had a really good Christmas and wishing you all a Happy New Year. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, I really do appreciate it. I’m looking forward to 2016. There will be some exciting launches in the beauty world and I can’t wait to review them!!

Have a great New Year’s Eve.
