Drugstore favourites: Makeup

We all use drugstore beauty products but sometimes they aren’t always the best quality. I know I’ve bought products without testing them and later when I use them at home, I’ve been a little disappointed. But we write it off because drugstore items are so reasonably priced.

However, every now and then we come across a gem of a product and wonder how we ever lived without it.

There are wonderful products available at low prices and I’d like to share my favourites with you.

L'Oreal Infallible Matte foundationFoundation…L’Oreal Infallible 24H-Matte (12 Natural Rose) £7.99

A firm favourite amongst beauty bloggers on YouTube. I purchased this after LustreLux recommended it for its long lasting qualities and superb matte finish. Not a greasy t-zone in sight when this foundation is used and it really does last all day. I would recommend applying a nourishing/hydrating primer before using this foundation, especially if you have dry skin. If you don’t, it can make the skin on your face feel quite tight and dry.

Maybelline Age Rewind concealerConcealer…Maybelline Eraser Eye (Light) £7.99

The domed, fluffy applicator on top of this product makes it quite unique. It’s perfect for quick application for people on the go. When this concealer is used under the eyes, set it with a loose powder and it really won’t crease.

Sleek Rose Gold blushBlush…Sleek blush (Rose Gold) £4.49

This product is a blush and highlighter in one. It’s a rose pink shade with a gold shimmer and gives the cheeks a beautiful glow. Some beauty bloggers have compared it to the Nars blush ‘Orgasm’, a cult classic.

Maybelline Brow Drama & Brow SatinBrows…Maybelline Brow Drama eyebrow mascara (Medium Brown) £4.99 and Maybelline Brow Satin eyebrow pencil (Medium Brown) £5.99

Maybelline have done extremely well in the brow department. Both the eyebrow mascara and pencil get top marks from me. The mascara is very pigmented and comes in three shades (transparent version also available). The ball tipped brush makes sure every hair is coated for that long lasting hold. The Brow Satin has a pencil one end and a sponge with powder on the other. The pencil is perfect for drawing the outline of your brows and the powder for filling in those sparse areas.

Bourjois eyeshadowEyeshadow…Bourjois Little Round Pot (Beige Rose #08) £6.99

Bourjois have used a baked formula for this eyeshadow for a soft, smooth texture which makes it incredibly easy to blend. This range of shadows comes in plenty of colours but this gorgeous white/beige colour has a pink sheen to it which looks beautiful all over the eyelid.

Collection Fast Stroke liquid linerEyeliner…Collection Fast Stroke (Black) £2.99

This little beauty has held a place in my makeup collection for at least 10 years. I always seem to struggle with winged eyeliner when using gel liner with an angled liner brush or those products which come with a long, thin eyeliner brush. But this one has a firm, felt tip that isn’t too long which means it doesn’t bend and flick around all over the eyelid. It’s not for everybody but I have to say drawing a wing has never been easier with this product. I do own the waterproof version and unfortunately it isn’t as good. It tends to flake and crumble off the eyelids so I wouldn’t recommend it. Stick to the original and you can’t go wrong!

L'Oreal Telescopic mascaraMascara…L’Oreal Telescopic (Black) £10.99

This mascara has a huge fanbase and it’s easy to see why. This is fairly new to my makeup collection but now I understand what all the fuss is about. It has a flexi comb for precise application which lengthens and separates the lashes for a bold but natural look. This is not one of those mascara which clumps the lashes together and leaves them looking lumpy. This is a wonderful product which does exactly what it says on the packaging. You only need one coat. Apply slowly from root to tip and you’ll understand the hype.

L'Oreal Color Riche lipstick

Lipstick…L’Oreal Color Riche Collection Exclusive Nudes (Julianne’s Nude and JLo’s Nude) £6.99

I haven’t had these lipsticks long. They are a new addition to L’Oreal but they are selling out quickly. 6 iconic L’Oreal spokespeople have designed a nude and a red shade for this line. JLo’s Nude called Barely Greige is a lovely pink nude. Julianne’s Nude called Barely Peach is a peachy, pink colour. They are enriched with a pearly luminescence which gives a beautiful shine to the lips. These lipsticks are very pigmented and non-sticky. Only one bad point…the smell. The strong perfume smell isn’t very pleasant and this is a product which is going to be sat right under your nose all day so it needs a nice aroma. This is something that MAC really have perfected with their lipsticks. I could sniff those bad boys all day long!

Do you own any of these amazing products? Which drugstore products would you recommend?
