Since my last NYX article, I have tried some more NYX products. The Butter Gloss lipglosses were calling my name and I couldn’t resist! These lipglosses are described by NYX as…
Buttery soft and silky smooth, our scrumptious new Butter Lip Gloss tastes as sweet as a sugar cookie—and makes your lips look downright luscious. Swipe it on alone or over your favorite lipstick for creamy sheer to medium coverage that melts onto your lips and is never sticky.
So let’s break this down. Buttery soft and silky smooth – Yes. Tastes as sweet as a sugar cookie – YES! This is amazing, it actually smells like cookie dough. The Soft Matte Lip Creams also have the same scent but for some reason, the butter glosses smell soooo goood. You need to buy these, just for the sweet cookie smell.
I love that you can wear it over a lipstick or on it’s own for a sheer look. For the bolder, darker colours, I think it’s best to wear over a similar colour lipstick if you want the colour to really pop.
There are 22 colours available from a sheer nude to dark purples and reds. They are great value for money as they cost £5 ($4.99) for 8ml. They’re a really good size for popping in your bag. Sometimes those larger lipglosses don’t fit in side pockets and end up lost forever in the bottom of your bag.
I Googled ‘NYX Butter Gloss swatch’ to find which shades I wanted as NYX is online only in the UK at the moment. I picked 4 shades…Creme Brulee (BLG05), Angel Food Cake (BLG15), Raspberry Tart (BLG21) and Devil’s Food Cake (BLG22).
I actually surprised myself with these colour choices. Well, maybe not the first two as these are nude and nude-pink. We all need a nude lipgloss in our lives…although, not if we already own about 6. Raspberry Tart is a gorgeous bright purple which I would never normally choose. But after seeing the swatches on Google, I really wanted to try it. Devil’s Food Cake is also quite daring for me as it’s a dark burgundy shade. I figured it’s a great autumn colour so in the online shopping basket it went.
The gloss is soft and smooth, just like NYX promises. It’s not too sticky either which is great. I have bought lipglosses in the past before where they are so sticky that my lips have actually stuck together…who decided this was a good idea?!
You will need to reapply throughout the day as it does come off when eating and drinking. This is not a bad point in my opinion, I expect this from a lipgloss.
These products really are excellent quality at an affordable price. I’m looking forward to trying out more shades.
